PROBE for Public Service

An organisation needs to involve all of its people at all levels and the PROBE process is ideal in ensuring that a wide range of views from within the organisation are heard when developing the improvement plan.

PROBE for Public Service has been designed as a joint effort involving Comparison International staff working alongside senior managers and staff who are directly involved in the day-to-day delivery of public services.

It has been deployed to great effect as:

  • a contributor to ongoing strategic planning and review
  • a stimulus to and framework for continuous improvement of services and performance
  • a source of valuable evidence in the context of external assessments such as Best Value Reviews and Comprehensive Performance Assessments

Providers of public services, and organisations in the voluntary or not-for-profit sectors, are as focused as any business on the need to be highly effective in pursuit of their aims and the delivery of outcomes; and professional and efficient in the way they operate. There are many generic lessons to be learned and transferred both ways across the "public-private divide". And there are some specific issues and emphases that require different focus and different thinking. PROBE for Public Service has been designed to bring "the best of both worlds" to managers and staff in public and not-for-profit organisations who understand the benefits that Best Practice Benchmarking can deliver for them, their organisations and their customers and stakeholders.

PROBE Best Practice Benchmarking services can be customised for other types of organisation and for other sectoral or special purpose needs. To discuss your needs please contact us.
